PROJECT SUMMARY
We trained 20 girls and 20 boys at Mponela secondary school under our program by different professionals to become trainers and models among primary school learners reducing drop out while improving quality of education with gender responsiveness while combating effects of climate change. The trained students as agents of change and went on to train learners in over 200 girls and boys in primary schools and then the technologies and skills trickled down to communities.
PROJECT DELIVERABLES
- Improved academic performance was one of the out comes as 8 (5 girls & 3 boys) of our students made it into quiz team and their performance was outstanding during various quiz session done once a term through our one year period.
- 100% of members made it to the next class and about 93 % of green sound club members demonstrated accelerated improvement in Geography tests during terminal and continuous assessment throughout the program.
- 10 (5 girls & 5 boys) of our students were recognized in top ten performing students for the during this academic year. 13 were awarded as best English speaking students
- The program trained 4 teacher (2 male and 2 female) at Mponela secondary school who are now patrons and matrons for Mponela CDSS Green Sounds Club
- Planted 300 trees and increased the population of trees by 796 percent and turned flower gardens into vegetable gardens
- 14 Students discovered their musical skill and that on is now getting trained as a musical producer
- Equipped girls and boys to become resilience to the effects of climate change using green initiatives like 1. Making briquettes 2. Green Stoves 3. Self-Irrigation Practice 4. Water recycling 5. back yard vegetable gardens
